STRIKE A POSE
After Just 4 Days of Action, SF Teachers’ Strike Ends in a Win
Published February 2026
In a huge move, the teachers of the SFUSD, represented by the United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) union, struck on Monday, February 9, for the first time in 47 years.
Thanks to some very tough bargaining, union and district officials managed to come to a tentative agreement on a $183 million deal. The terms of the two-year contract include increased salaries and better healthcare benefits for educators.
Teachers are due a 6% raise over two years, beginning with a 2% increase this year and in 2027, with the equivalent of an additional 1% raise each year based on two days added to their annual work calendar for training, according to UESF. The deal also includes how to address federal immigration enforcement on UCSF campuses.
The photos on this page were made at a rally the UESF held in front of City Hall on the first day of the strike. This council salutes our city’s teachers for standing up and demanding what they’re owed.
